This event has been canceled. For more information, visit .

On February 5, 2022, at 7:30PM, Sound the Trumpet brings noted soloist Andrew Balio, Principal Trumpet of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, joining the SLO Symphony under the baton of Maestro Andrew Sewell, for a program including Ewald’s Quintet No. 1 in B Flat Minor, Morris’ Motion for Wind Quartet, Wilder’s Octets, Neruda’s Concerto for Trumpet in E Flat, Strauss’ Serenade in E Flat, and Tomasi’s Concerto for Trumpet in C. This is a hybrid of chamber music featuring brass and woodwinds, and orchestral works featuring our soloist. Alyssa Morris’ Motion is a fast and furious virtuosic work, while Victor Ewald’s Brass Quintet is of the first compositions written for this brass combination of two trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba from 1855. The Strauss Wind Serenade involves nine instruments, and trumpet concertos from Baroque and Modern times, provide a showcase for our guest trumpet soloist, Andrew Balio, with full orchestral accompaniment. Programs are subject to change.

Sponsored in Loving Memory of Bonnie McIvor
