Kronos Quartet

Music for Change: The Banned Countries

For more than 45 years, Kronos Quartet – “the most far-ranging ensemble geographically, nationally, and stylistically the world has known” (Los Angeles Times) – has performed music that responds to societal issues, both contemporary and historic. Acclaimed Iranian vocalist Mahsa Vahdat joins Kronos for this provocative and wide- ranging program, which will feature music from countries where Muslims have a significant presence, pieces inspired by civil rights activists Pete Seeger and Mahalia Jackson, and Vahdat’s own songs based on classical Persian poems by Rumi and Hafez.

“Kronos Quartet elevated a concert of music to a spiritual trip through our common humanity – it was universal, all-encompassing, fabulously inclusive.”
